A healthy dose of humour to help cure the NHS
In 2008 the government needed to find ways to ease the pressure on the NHS, particularly on GPs and A&E departments. So they set up NHS Direct, a phone service that offered advice for non emergency aliments. So although these ads might be funny, how effective they would be was taken very seriously. From the peel-off-and-keep phone card, to the phone line graphic, there's no doubt about how to use the service. And it worked a little too well. On the day of the launch the phone lines were overwhelmed and crashed for a few hours.
